If you’re reading this, you’re human. Humans need other humans-to function in society, at work, and to have personal relationships. And, humans want other people to like them. Experts say this can be done in as little as 90 seconds with a few simple body language tricks. Interested?
Here’s a quick description of a few simple body language techniques to make people like you in 90 seconds or less:
1 Flash your eyebrows. According to Psychology Today: “The eyebrow flash is a quick up and down movement of the eyebrows. As people approach one another they eyebrow flash each other to send the message that they do not pose a threat. Since eyebrow flashes can be seen at a distance, people typically eyebrow flash as they approach others.”
2 Tilt your head. Another subtle body expression that signals you do not pose a threat is a head tilt. Psychology Today explains this is probably because tilting your head exposes the carotid artery in your neck which is the primary source of blood to your brain. Exposing this shows you are vulnerable and open.
3 But, wait until you make contact with someone to smile, says Business Insider. This shows you don’t just walk around smiling at everyone which makes your smile more meaningful to the recipient.
4 Make eye contact. Keeping eye contact with someone while you speak lets them know you think they are interesting and what they are saying is important. When you don’t make eye contact, it can indicate you’re untrustworthy or uninterested, and you don’t want that.
5 Stop fidgeting. When engaged in conversation, refrain from unnecessary movements. Experts say fidgeting is interpreted as nervousness and can also indicate you are lying. Common forms of fidgeting, according to com, include: twisting your hands; playing with your hair or clothing; tapping a pen or drumming on the table.
Make it a way of life to show each person you meet the same amount of respect with your words and with your actions. What isn’t said can have a larger influence on your relationships that was is said. As American poet Maya Angelou said:

Here are some tips to reignite the exhilaration for your business:
1 Reflect on the passion that led you to open your business in the first place. Is it still your passion? Are your company goals still aligned with your company mission? If not, re-define and/or align and hit the ground running again.
2 Expand your company’s horizons. When your company is continually evolving, it is difficult to be bored. Find a complimentary service or product that can add value to your customers and introduce it.
3 Design fun into the daily work routine. Team activities and adventures will inspire your team, who will serve customers better, and, as a result, business may increase. Positive energy will breed more positivity and produce enthusiasm.
4 Start each day with positive challenges. Ask yourself: What will I accomplish today? Make a goal, determine a purpose, and do it!
5 Examine your environment. If it has not changed since you opened your business, it may be time to mix it up! Re-arranging furniture, switching offices, or adding a fresh coat of paint can freshen your perspective.
Finally, take a step back. See how far you’ve come. Not every day can be a grand opening day. Be grateful for the experiences you’ve had-both the good and the bad. Gratitude can make it much easier to be appreciative of even the most tedious tasks and the most uneventful days.

If you see life through Lens A, you are living your life in a reactive way. This means waiting for something to happen to you or around you, then blaming others for what happened or didn’t happen without taking any personal responsibility for the situation. This mentality includes language such as: “he made me so mad that I had to…,” or “she made me feel bad about myself,” or “I didn’t have a choice.”
If you see your life through Lens B, you are living your life in a proactive way. This means setting goals and taking action towards achieving them. It means creating opportunities, not waiting for them to come to you. It means having imagination and creativity to explore possibilities that align with your personal principles. It means taking conscious control of your life and understanding that you always have a choice. Because you do. We all do.
Here are some tips to live a proactive life:
1 Change your language. Instead of saying “if this were different, my life would be better,” or “if that person would do/would not do something, my life would be better,” say what you will change or do to meet your goals or achieve your desired results.
2 Seek support. You do not have to go through this journey, or any of life’s journeys, alone. Find someone who is aligned with your values and who is a positive influence towards your goals or desires. They’re out there-but they will not just come knocking on your front door. You must make a choice to reach out!
3 Never deny that you have choices. Choice is the greatest gift humans get in life. Not making a choice is a choice itself. And, the only person you can blame for the outcome is yourself.
Creating your own life experiences is choosing freedom and happiness. But, it’s your choice.

It means if you focus on the hurtful, the failures, the anger, the hate, and the negative thoughts and emotions that surround them, you will attract more of them into your life. It also means if you focus on the delight, the wonder, the awe, the amazing, the happiness, the love, and the positive, you will attract more of that.
LIMITED THOUGHTS = LIMITED LIFE
Your mind is the most formidable power in your life. You are only limited by the boundaries of your thoughts. Other people’s thoughts are not your own unless you make them. Other people’s words are not your words unless you repeat them. You must choose to free yourself from negative situations, circumstances, thoughts and people around you to harness your own power and create the life you want.

Expanding your thoughts and the realm of possibilities for your life can be achieved in many ways. Here are some techniques to activate positivity in your life:
- Open your mind by reading, watching movies, meeting new people, signing up for new experiences, or learning new words;
- Keep a journal of your negative thoughts and words and purposefully rephrase them into positive thoughts and words;
- Take time to focus on your breathing and being in the present moment;
- Meditate to regain focus on your thoughts and no one else’s;
- Add physical activity to your routine;
- Keep a gratitude journal that outweighs your worry list;
- Say ‘yes’ more.
If it’s prosperity, happiness, love, or better health you want, choose to mindfully speak of wealth, joy, companionship, and fitness! You will find fulfillment and reward in what you want, not in what you don’t want. So, stop speaking about what you don’t want and focus on what you do want!
